Healthy Skin Care Secrets-The Science of skin care, As Nature intended
By Barbara Trainer, Licensed Clinical Esthetician & purveyor of natural skin care products
Maintaining healthy looking skin is a daily task that requires diligence. Always wear a sunscreen to protect the skin from the Sun’s harmful rays. Keep your skin moist and fresh with daily cleansing and moisturizing using specially formulated products recommended by your licensed Esthetician. I believe in all natural products, that is why I only sell A Natural Difference products. They are free of processed chemicals and perfumes and derived from natural ingredients such as fruit enzymes like pumpkin, mango, cranberry, and oranges, etc. These natural products have been very successful with diminishing fine lines, encouraging the skins metabolism, strengthening the skins immune systems, and helping reduce inflammation and bacteria.
Proper skin care is essential for both pre and post-surgery. Your post-surgery will result in less bruising and faster healing time. Pre-surgery, especially Microdermabrasion will stimulate the natural collagen under the skin, making the skin rejuvenated and healthy for upcoming facial surgery. With Microdermabrasion you will see results immediately after your first treatment. Your skin will have a fresh pink glow with no dullness. It will look healthier and feel smoother and softer.
Clients in menopause and perimenopause will need skin treatments aimed at combating dryness, slowed cell turnover, and thinning skin. Skin Care Professionals, like me, need to be ready to embrace their menopausal clients with open arms and a message that says, “This is a new beginning of potentially a fabulous time in your life”. It’s all about healthy aging with my A Natural Difference skin care line.
I too am a baby boomer, recently remarried and enjoying my wonderful skin care career for over 23 years, and the personal results I have achieved with my products and procedures.

If you are unhappy with age spots, acne, scars, stretch marks, dull skin, fine wrinkles or flaking skin, you might consider Microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion has been used in Europe for years. Now the exciting procedure is the number two non-surgical cosmetic procedure in the United States. It is helping men and women everywhere experience remarkable improvements in skin texture regardless of skin color. Smart Peel’s Microdermabrasion skin peel treatments combined with Oxygen treatments, Photo-rejuvenation light therapy, facials and Barbara’s magic bag of skin care products are a safe, comprehensive approach to skin care. Barbara’s expertise with this machine is non-invasive yet removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells to reveal the fresher, younger cells beneath. Regardless of your skin’s condition, fine lines and age spots may be erased and acne scars and stretch marks will become less obvious. No lengthy healing time although you may feel a temporary tingling following your treatment. Go back to work or resume normal activities. Results will vary depending on your skin, however, six (6) treatments spaced two (2) weeks apart are recommended. Candidates for Microdermabrasion are younger people whose skin is showing early signs of aging, acne prone skin that has not responded to other remedies, people with skin sensitivities to chemicals or make-up, those with hyper-pigmentation, patients who cannot take time off for healing from a chemical peel or laser procedure and active people who don’t want to put off their outdoor activities like golf, tennis, skiing. Remember to always use a good sun block on your skin when outdoors.

Smart Peel Microdermabrasion
The skin is the largest organ of our body. It protects us from the environment and regulates our body temperature. Skin is made up of millions of cells. Each day thousands of these cells die, fall off, and are replaced by new cells from beneath the outer layer of skin. As we age this process begins to slow down. Dark blotches and other signs of aging and sun damage begin to appear. Our skin may become dull and begin to form wrinkles. That’s when my combination of all natural skin care products and years of experience can help!
Revolutionary Anti-Aging treatment for all skin types
Skin care specialists have researched the nature of skin deterioration caused by pollution and the importance of oxygenation to the skin to combat such damage. Their research has resulted in the development of oxygen therapy created to suppress injury to the skin caused by aging, environmental toxins, bacteria, sun radiation, poor diet and medicines. Oxygen treatment regenerates the skin cells through oxygenating. Oxygen creme contains hydrogen peroxide with a mild glycolic/salicylic complex, in a sweet eucalyptus and sunflower base.

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the face occurring most often in women-appearing as rosy cheeks or red patches in the early stages and advancing into purplish-red cheeks and chin. Men can also develop these symptoms; and if left untreated it may advance to Rhinophyma, which is a swelling or redness of the nose with nasal bumps. Further development in a Rosacea disorder may induce inflamed, small, red, solid papules or pus-filled pustules. These conditions may come and go in cycles. Rosacea cannot be totally cured, but it can be controlled. Early treatment can lessen or get rid of symptoms and help prevent blood vessels from enlarging.
Photo Rejuvenation and my DermaWave Red LED machine
Some time ago, out of a Day Spa under their ownership, DermaWave set out to produce the first Photo Rejuvenation device for Esthetician use that offered continuously variable output parameters, allowing the operator to tailor its output for the individual skin types and conditions – previously only available on medical-grade machines. Spa-based, LED-units (such as DermaWave’s), designed for the Esthetician, increase the fibroblast activity, whereby fibroblasts are the connective tissue cells which secrete an extra-cellular matrix rich in collagen and other macromolecules. This approach works well, indeed. And there's no pain or sting involved.... Photo Rejuvenation performed with a well designed instrument has true merit. It won't re-grow amputated limbs and, despite the process being described and promoted in the skin care press as 'The Lunchtime Facelift', it really isn't the equivalent of going under a surgical knife. Rather, for those who shudder at the thought of surgery, it's a very nice alternative to the knife -- not a replacement. What Photo Rejuvenation is ... is an excellent compliment to the modern Day Spa. Photo Rejuvenation generally requires a series of sessions (nominally, six) and the maximum "bloom" or benefits are often realized about 4 weeks after the sessions. Yes, there are some exceptions whereby I've seen realizable improvements in Rosacea after one or two visits. And I have seen some who experience a finer skin texture within 48 hours after one session. But also know that the relative degree of success, like with any device or skin care product, is somewhat dependent on the client, themselves ... their general health ... and having limited sun exposure, particularly during the weeks they undergo the Photo Rejuvenation sessions (baking in the sun can "burn off" much of the gains). As it relates to increased collagen growth ... yes, Photo Rejuvenation can provide this, whereby its success is again somewhat dependent upon the client's ability to produce it, as well as how much viable collagen they have stored within their body. But, no ... it's not the equal of collagen injections. For most clients, the skin itself will become more plump and fine lines can be diminished in the process. For deeper lines, I recommend the "one-two punch" of Photo Rejuvenation that will help fill the line in its "valley", and microdermabrasion that will shave the line from the top, addressing the facial crease from both sides.
What Photo Rejuvenation will provide -- at all times -- is a healthier skin, one filled with more oxygen and moisture -- and nutrients (as pulled directly from the body). And, with significance, the DermaWave will increase the cell turnover rate, nominally two-fold -- closely replicating the faster turnover rate people possess in their twenties. And it is this very turnover rate that, among other factors, provides the more youthful skin we enjoyed in earlier years. No matter how "displeased" we may be with our appearance on a given day, imagine if you could simply take a pill that would halt the aging process -- one that, at least, wouldn't let us "get any worse". Well, Photo Rejuvenation isn't quite that pill. But by speeding up the cell turnover rate, you can slow down the aging process. And beyond the realizable improvements in the here and now, this may be regarded as one of Photo Rejuvenation's greatest gains: the reduction of "loss", as it relates to the aging process.
*DermaWave products - inclusive of all internal circuitry - are the first and only Spa equipment devices - of any type - to be RoHS Compliant. What's that, you ask? RoHS stands for 'Restriction of Hazardous Substances', whereby this directive restricts the use of six commonly-used hazardous materials in a device's manufacture - including Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ether (PBDE). So DermaWave products are not only safe for the operator and client ... but also for the planet on which they reside.

Three (3) sets of before and after pictures showing results from Red light LED PhotoRejuvenation by the DermaWave machine. What you see above are a series of independent images photographed by a DermaWave estetician practitioner, the shots are kept fairly consistent, generally maintaining the light and the angles between shots within a set. They have not been manipulated through Adobe PhotoShop. (1) Hyper-Pigmentation, clearly - and a somewhat unusual case, revealing something akin to a mottling of the skin, it was reported that this client had "tried everything", from fade creams to pricey ($500, a pop) Photo-Facial treatments. I would have expected a high-powered IPL medical device to perform every bit as well as my DermaWave, but seemingly not in this particular instance, the first set above was after a total of five DermaWave sessions. The client reported that she was "very happy" with the results. More improvement could be yielded with additional treatments. (2) In the second set the lines around the eyes were the target. Although the angle was inadvertantly changed between shots (and over several weeks), the subject was in a state of common repose for both photographs. The above represented six sessions. (3) The third set is a virtual medley of pigmentation anomalies, darkened areas (as well as reddened areas) are much lighter and skin has a much more even tone. Here, too, six sessions were employed.
